Geoeconomic forum, Association for the World Economic Development Studies was founded in 2004, after several years of contemplating the need of gathering experts in Croatia and Southeast Europe specializing in economic globalisation, international relations and security issues.

GEOFO acts on three levels:

Promotion of economic diplomacy and understanding of Croatia's integration with its Region, the EU and the World.
Study of depth, content and manner of economic globalisation's  processes in Croatia, Southeast Europe, The European Union and the World.
Establishment of Pax Oeconomica for Southeast Europe

GEOFO is oriented neither for nor against globalisation. It monitors and analyses   processes  of economic interdependence in Croatia, Region, the EU and the World based on facts, expert knowledge and non-partisan approaches.

GEOFO main goals are:

  • education of the public about the importance of geoeconomics and the need of coping with the consequences of the economic globalisation in Croatia and South East Europe
  • research of key elements necessary for the geoeconomically oriented policy of Croatia in its relations with the World
  • research of the influence of economic globalisation on the accomplishment of national goals, and economic and social stability of the society
  • studying the ways of running geoeconomic policies within region
  • promotion of the establishment of the policy and relations in South East Europe based on geoeconomic principles
  • stimulation of studying the model of the Croatian economic system, and the impact of liberalization and privatisation on social security, equity, democracy and human rights in Croatia
  • research of the experiences of small countries in large integration blocks
